Julia and I decided we were finally ready to conquer red meat and it was delicious! The glass market has some really cool vegetables at the produce stand. To go along with steak we made romanesco broccoli and some really cool pumpkin shaped tomatoes.
For the veggies, we just cut them and roasted them in olive oil, salt, and pepper. The tomatoes were a very weird consistency that was kind of mushy, grainy, and not great. The broccoli had a great texture but I think regular broccoli has a bit more flavor. The steak was a balsamic marinated skirt steak. We bought it packaged with some fresh herbs, I’m not exactly positive which herbs but I definitely saw thyme and garlic. Then we marinated it in balsamic vinegar, brown sugar, worcestershire sauce, and minced garlic for about an hour. We seared each side for a couple of minutes and then finished cooking it in the oven, checking it frequently because we had no idea how long it was supposed to cook for.
